For those of you who would like a comprehensive overview of the critical thinking, including issues involving higher education, I recommend Martin Davies’ (2015) article, “A Model of Critical Thinking in Higher Education.” Davies has written about critical thinking for many years and has an impressive number of publications to his name. So, if anyone is going to present a comprehensive overview of the field, he is certainly a top candidate.
This article, weighing in at 52 pages, is clearly written, and favors no point of view. The references alone are worth the effort. Although it tilts to the theoretical side of things, it is still useful for those searching for a comparison and contrast of various approaches. The dust has hardly settled on this field, neither on its definition nor its implementation. But Davies is a good guide through the thicket. Davies article
